Stephen is part of a long lineage of wine industry professionals, dating back to his grandfather and father pioneering the Wine & Spirits retailing of Sydney. As a 3rd generation veteran of the wine industry Stephen has professionally excelled over the last 20years. If you want to know something about wine he is the man to ask!
Having worked in almost all facets of the industry Stephen is regarded as one of the industry’s most accomplished individuals. He has judged at the Sydney International Wine Competition (2007 & 2009) & was an associate at the 2005 Boutique Winemakers’ Exhibition, he was the beverage columnist for FPC Courier Group, writing contributor to Australian Bartender Magazine & Elizabeth Bay Cellars Magazine. Stephen enjoyed a highly rewarding role as sommelier at The Boathouse Restaurant (1996 – 1998).
Until recently he was a partner at Bacchus Wine Merchants (2005 – 2016), a wine distribution company with an impressive portfolio of local and international wines. He was key accounts manager at Southcorp Wines and Owner/Operator of Hand Picked Wines. Previously the owner of the Wine Palace in Leichhardt & Dover Heights, Stephen has recently returned to the retail side of the game with Darlinghurst Fine Wines and Paddington Fine Wines in Sydney. He has been a Len Evans tutorial scholar and completed the Wine Sensory Evaluation Course at the University of Adelaide.
Stephen’s passion for wine is apparent when in conversation with him at one of his stores, or as a participant in one of his wine appreciation courses or wine tours. A skilled tutor and effective communicator, Stephen is widely respected all over the world by the most prestigious winemakers. Stephen also consults to many businesses within the hospitality industry.
Bob’s experience in wine and wine export is second to none in the Australian wine industry. We are very excited to have Bob join our team as General Manager of Sun Valley Exports. He brings with him vast experience from his solid career in the Liquor Industry, exponential management experience in export, FMCG sales, marketing, commercial sales, bulk, logistics and hands-on viticulture management, delivering consistently profitable results. He has built strong relationships and lasting friendships over the 40 years’ he has been in this industry. Previous roles have included working with Pernod Ricard, 7 years at Tyrrells family wines and 9 years at Casella (Yellow Tail).
Bob will manage all relationships across our markets in North America, China, Australia, UK & Europe, SE Asia and India. Bob is focused on delivering our leading brands to markets all over the world.
Chrissy has a diverse career history spanning many industries including hospitality; film, theatre & television; corporate & private event management; project management & interior design; publicity & marketing; cultural competency training; corporate leadership & team building training & development; and workplace mentoring.
Her primary role is with Rickshaw Enterprises, a boutique consultancy firm engaged across a diverse range of projects including Food & Beverage, Agribusiness, Recruitment, Manufacturing, Hospitality, Wholesale, Retail, Arts & Entertainment. Her key strength lies in building strategic, sustainable and meaningful relationships between partners, stakeholders and customers.
For Sun Valley, Chrissy is responsible for creating, developing & implementing marketing tools, developing brand awareness, and supporting the team across a range of areas within the business.
